Our Great Taste Awards

The Great Taste Awards are widely regarded as the most stringent and respected awards in the UK food industry — often called the “Oscars of Fine Food.” Products are judged by over 500 discerning palates, including food critics, chefs, restaurateurs, producers, and food writers. Each product undergoes blind tasting, with marks awarded solely for taste.

Receiving a Great Taste Award is more than just a badge of honour. The iconic black and gold label signals to customers that a product has been rigorously tested and proven to deliver exceptional flavour.

At Lakenham Creamery, when we enter our ice cream into the awards, we select a random tub from our stock, ensuring that any award truly reflects the quality our customers can expect every time they enjoy our ice cream.

We are committed to producing only the very best, and the Great Taste Awards are a testament to our ongoing dedication to quality, craftsmanship, and flavour.

Winners of 42 gold great taste awards!

For 2025, we won 1 Gold Star for our Norfolk County Stem Ginger Ice Cream. The comments from the judges:

“We were excited by this creamy ice cream. The stem ginger shone through and coated the palate, as this wonderful creamy ice cream melted, filling the senses. The sweetness balance was perfect and filled the mouth with creaminess.”

For 2024, we won 1 Gold Star for our Norfolk County Mascarpone & Fig Ice Cream. The comments from the Judges:

“The mascarpone gives this a slightly savoury hit from the main body of the ice cream, that works well with the presence of fig. The judges really enjoyed this!”

“The ice cream has a creamy, rich texture and the mascarpone dials down the sweetness which the judges found to be very pleasant”

For 2023, we won 1 Gold Star for our Norfolk County Coconut & Cream Ice Cream. The comments from the Judges:

“This will delight fans of coconut. It would taste wonderful on a plate of freshly-cut pineapple or mango or can be thoroughly enjoyed on it’s own!”

“ It’s an enticingly bright, white ball of loveliness. There is a slight hint of coconut as you bring the spoon to your mouth. Elegant, creaminess with a really generous amount of coconut in each bite. Very moreish. The judges would happily dive in for another spoonful.”

For 2022, we won 1 Gold Star for our French Vanilla and our Peaches & Cream Ice Cream and 2 Gold Stars for our Rich Butterscotch Ice Cream.

We will continue to refine and develop new flavours to enter into the Great Taste Awards for many years to come.
